We are available to you for various types of medical care such as preventative medicine and general wellness, the management of chronic diseases and conditions, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, medication management, post-operative/post-discharge care and more.
Primary Care
We believe in the importance of patient education, and we work closely with our patients to ensure their health goals are met.
Some of the preventative services we provide are:
- Annual physical exams
- Work, School, and Sports physical exams
- Routine lab work
- Medication management
- Follow-up care to manage new or pre-existing conditions
- Management of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and more
Urgent Care
Should the need for services arise suddenly, we will see you as promptly as possible and can usually schedule same-day sick visits. Some of our most commonly utilized services are:
- Flu A/B, strep, mono and covid testing
- Laceration repairs, burn treatment and wound care
- Evaluation and treatment of UTI (urinary tract Infections), Ear Infections, Common Colds, Viral Infections, and the like
- Evaluation and treatment of an injury resulting from a fall or accident

Akwaaba Care is a Family Practice offering Primary Care services.
Akwaaba Care takes Mass Health Standard, the PCC Plan only. Other forms of Mass Health are not accepted, including Mass Health Limited and Fallon Health, and Tufts. Please contact Member Services to switch to the PCC Plan and select Akwaaba Care as your PCP before making an appointment.
No, we do not take Fallon Health.
Akwaaba Care currently accepts BCBS, Health New England, Cigna, Aetna, United Health, Medicare part B, and the PCC Plan, a division of Mass Health Standard. We also accept certain Medicare replacement and supplemental plans. Please reach out to fredrika@akwaabacare.com for specific eligibility inquiries and detailed plan coverage information.
Walk-ins are evaluated on a case by case basis, and depend on the provider's availability. Insurance eligibility and other factors may influence our ability to see a walk in patient as well, but we will do our best to accommodate such requests whenever possible.
